A Mom & Son Adventure

I’m sitting here drinking my morning coffee that always seems to taste better when you are on the road and it got me thinking about this blog. Firstly, I’m not a writer, like at all. As a small business owner for years my grammar has gone down the drain! Answering emails, messages, texts, etc I answered fast bc I spent too much time on my phone. My hope is that you read this and hear my voice telling our stories and ignore the mistakes. I’ll try be better but just know I don’t really care that much about grammar 😂😂😂.

We are in Idaho for a few days, it is familiar here so was a great place to start. Yesterday I didn’t take one photo! That’s when you know you are having fun. We went to the waterpark, perfect for 34 above. I said this blog would be about my faith, adventure and autism. We only went on one water slide yesterday, this is Dane. If he doesn’t know how it will go or feel he refuses to go. And that’s ok, I have learned where to push him and where not to. About 5 years ago we were at this water park and he refused to go on the dbl raft ride we had to turn around at the top and come back down. But yesterday he did it!!! I laughed the entire way down and announced close to the bottom to Dane that we were going to flip! When we both stood up we were smiling but he said” mom I need to go to the lazy river IMMEDIATELY to calm down!” I high fived him and told him how proud I was that he did it. And he looked proud of himself which is everything. We went back to lazy river had some virgin Pina Coladas and calmed down.

These are the little stories I’ll tell to let you know about is amazing mind. This entire trip we are doing is a HUGE push I’m doing to him. Yes to him! Like I said I know where to push and where not to. Our plans have changed, I’m listening to him and what he needs. A year away is just too much, I know that now. You learn to pivot a lot with Autism. He is excited but nervous about this trip and that is why I am so grateful for Stella✨its our home away from home and familiar. Once we leave Idaho it’s new for both of us, and for me that’s where the real adventure will begin. I thrive on travel and seeing new things, Dane thrives on routine and familiarity. We are opposites but somehow we are perfect together.
