I have been thinking a lot about how bucket lists are always changing. This Oregon trip has checked a few off my list for sure. For a long time I didn’t really believe I could have new experiences. Life was pretty dark there for awhile. This trip has been more than I could have imagined for myself but also because I have got to show Dane some things that I loved when I was younger in hopes that he would love them too.

This little post is about the ocean. Dane has only seen it in Mexico and honestly he just dipped his toes in it and headed to the pool. What I wanted him to experience was tide pools, waves, the smells, living creatures, low/high tide and just to sit and appreciate the grandness of it. I got to do that here. I have a deep love for the ocean. It’s a place where I can just be for hours exploring. I love being barefoot feeling the sand between my toes.

My goal here was to get Dane to the beach to specifically see tide pools. I have explored them for as long as low tide would allow. And I have never been bored. We found this little beach just up from our campground and it did not disappoint.

Now Dane isn’t really big on walking so this was a bit of a trek but we got to the area where I had hoped we would see tide pools and we did. I showed Dane how everything along here was living and explained about low tide.

When we came around the other side the tide pools did not disappoint and I was so excited to show him anemones!!! We also saw a lot of jellyfish washed up on shore. I think I got him hooked because after that he wanted to stay and explore the entire area and it was just magic.

I stood quietly watching my boy fall in love with the ocean. He studied the tide pools, he searched for shells, he stood in the water and let the waves come and go. But what I loved most was the smile on his face, it never left. I could have watched him for hours.

This moment I will cherish for the rest of my life. It meant everything.
Bucket list…… check.
